Wow

Wow! that was a quick month. I can't believe it is December already.

Whoops

Wow it's nearly December and I haven't got round to putting up October's post yet.  Erm I wonder why? We must have been busy catching up on jobs. Thanks AA (not).

Reasons to be Grateful 1,2,?

We were really lucky to be able to get back to our favourite haunt this month to appreciate some of the sun, create a new parking space at our favourite POP and get some whitebaiting in before things turned to custard at the end of the month.

Let's just say there is a reason it's called 'Cabin Fever' and it's not motor home or living in a small space fever.

But what the helll who wants to celebrate their 30th Wedding Aniversary diving for Pearls in Bora Bora anyway when you can spend the week in a luxury cabin in Tauranga (NOT).

August Haunts

Back in the north Island, enjoying the sun and increased warmth at our north Island haunts.

Hanging around in June

Hanging around in Christchurch before heading to Akaroa to do a job/house sit. Just in time to get the diesel heater and truck fixed.

Maybe

Maybe it doesn't always rain in the South Island and I have the photos to prove it. Or could that just be because we have headed north?

April Showers

There is deceptively a lot of blue sky on this photo given the amount of rain we've had this month. But I suppose that's the thing about living on the road you have to make the most of the weather and get out while the sun is shining. Mark seems to have become a dab hand at checking the forecasts and making the best of it but I think even he was being a bit optimistic with his solar shower bag out at Mt Cook in April.

Waitakii Hydro Scheme

Tiki touring down the Waitaki to look at the Hydro Stations. Eight in total.  Starting from the inlet at Tekapo and finishing at Waitaki. If you look close enough you can see Mark at least once.

Easter 2017

Awesome range of walking tracks around Mt Cook, most directly accessible from the DOC, White Horse Camping Ground. It goes without saying,"DOC Rocks."

Tekapo NZMCA Park

3hr walk from the Tekapo NZMCA Park to the mount John Observatory and back. Over the bridge, round the lake and up the hill, past the hot pools. You don't even need to drive. Cafe at the top and if you're more organised than we were you can take your togs and have a dip on the way down. Hot pool that is, not lake that would be rather chilly at this time of year.

Marching on

Marching on down to the South Island. What a lovely gentle crossing. From Wellington to Akaroa with a few senic stops in between.

Monday 3 April 2017

Hanmer Forest Park

Hanmer Forest Park, waterfall walk. A good couple of hours walk, a few tricky parts to negotiate and a bit step at the top but well worth it, especially when you get to plunge your head under for a refreshing cool down at the top.

Tauranguary

Yeah we eventually escaped Tauranga. As beautiful as it is, with some lovely freedom camping spots to stop at, it is definitely time to move on. South Island here we come.

Omokuary

Hiding away in Omokoroa with our 4 legged friends, while everybody else has their summer holidays. I'm sure we were here this time last year but I don't remember all the pets.

Matata Reserve

If you go down to the bottom of Mair Street you're sure of a big surprise.
If you go down the  grass steps and carefully cross the railway lines you'll find the walking track leading onto the Reserve.
It won't be easy under foot as the paths not officially open yet. You'll have to look hard for the signs and watch out for fallen trees but you won't be disappointed with the view you find at the top.
